City Church is entering a new phase of its life. Our body has changed in significant ways over the last year, but each challenge is meant to build us up. We believe we are in a building season, and that it’s exactly what our community needs. God is building His Church and nothing, not even death, can stand in the way!
A church is not its building, it’s the people. As we seek the Lord’s blessing in building City Church, one of the first things we need to know is "who is City Church." We need to know which people are going to make up City Church as we move into this new season. Just as Israel changed and developed through its challenges, we believe God is doing the same thing in us. Membership Class allows us to see how God is going to shape us for what’s to come.
If you’ve been around City Church for a while but have not yet become a member, this class is for you. Membership class is also for those who aren’t sure whether they want to be members. It will be an opportunity to learn what the Church is, what it believes, and what it’s for.
Membership in a local church isn’t like membership at a country club. You aren’t gaining special access or special amenities. Membership in a local church is an opportunity to take your place in God’s story. God has always been about setting apart a people for Himself, and while God does love individuals, those individuals are part of a larger body, the Church. The local church is the microcosm where God’s larger story is played out.
