Read- Galatians 1:11-24
This section of Galatians is Paul’s autobiography, use these questions to consider your own.
Know the Word
In your own words, explain Paul’s defense.
In verses 15-16, according to Paul’s gospel, God is the one who sets apart, He is the one who calls, He is the one who reveals, He is the one who gives purpose. What does man contribute to this? Why is this part of the ‘good news?’ When is it right to defend yourself like Paul, when is it wrong?
Know Ourselves
God set Paul apart from before he was born and later called him by grace (v15). The Jewish belief was that they were set apart by obedience to the law. This is an easy mistake to make. Where do you have the hardest time trusting God’s grace? Where do you believe your acceptance is based on your obedience?
The gospel changed everything about Paul’s life. He went from violent enemy of God to faithful son. How has the gospel changed you?
Know How to Respond
As a Group - God called Paul for a specific purpose, to preach the gospel to the gentiles (v16). What has God called you for? Discuss this with your group and pray that you’d either become convinced of what God has called you for and/or that God would make you fruitful in it.
