Take time to read all of 1 John together
Reread verses 1-4 of chapter 1. How would you summarize what John is saying in these verses?
What do you notice about the beginning of John’s epistle? Would you begin a letter this way? Why do you think he begins the way he does?
What is John saying about fellowship in these verses? Why is that important?
Why does John say he’s writing the letter? Why is that a good reason?
John indicates that fellowship is an important part of joy. Who would you most enjoy seeing come into fellowship with God?
Close with prayer, ask God for deeper fellowship with Him and with one another and ask Him to bring the people mentioned in the previous question into fellowship so that our joy may also be complete.
