This Week in Kid City | October 12

This week we are memorizing Psalm 23:5

Verse 1:

The Lord is my shepherd; I have what I need.

Verse 2:

He lets me lie down in green pastures; he leads me beside quiet waters.

Verse 3:

He renews my life; he leads me along the right paths for his name’s sake.

Verse 4:

Even when I go through the darkest valley, I will fear no danger, for you are with me; your rod and your staff – they comfort me.

Verse 5:

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.

PLAY

As we learn verse 5 and memorize it with our children, let’s show them what it really means for a cup to overflow! Grab their favorite drink – chocolate milk, lemonade, apple juice, or whatever they wish they could always drink. Either outside, or over the sink pour them a drink! Fill it all the way to the top until it overflows!! How fun to see you giving them MORE than enough of their very favorite drink. Remind them this is exactly what God does for us – he provides abundantly more than we could ever hope for or imagine!

PRAY

“Rejoice always, pray constantly, give thanks in everything” – 1 Thessalonians 5:16-17

Let’s stop and pray with our children throughout the day to thank God for the ways that He continues to provide for us! Try setting a timer on your phone 3 times a day and when that timer goes off, you can stop whatever you are doing and praise God with your little one.

PREACH

God invites us into his presence as he sets a table before us. He abundantly provides for us even in the presence of our enemies. Remind your child that we are always invited into God’s presence! God gives us the best gift – the gift of himself. He has prepared a way for us that we may be with him and apart of His forever family because of His son, Jesus’ life, death and resurrection!
