Bible Reading- Haggai 1:12-2:5

Know God

  1. Haggai describes the Spirit’s stirring (Haggai 1:14). Who did the Spirit stir up?  What does this reveal about God the Father and/or His Spirit?

  2. What is the connection between obedience, fear, and the Lord’s presence in these verses? 

Know Ourselves

  1. The people were discouraged as they looked at how much smaller and less elegant the new temple would be.  What is currently a discouragement in your life?  Is it not as nothing in your eyes (Haggai 2:3)?  How can God be glorified in your day of small things? (Zechariah 4:10)

  2. The Lord commands Zerubbabel (governor), Jehozadak (high priest), and the people to all be strong (2:4).  Where is the source of this strength?  How should you be using your strength?

Know How to Respond

As a Group - What is something in your life that you feel ill-equipped for, or what is an area where you feel that you don't measure up? Share this with the group and pray for one another that the Lord would be present in that area/situation just like He was in Haggai.
