City Church Discipleship Group Guide

Know God

Bible Reading- 1 Timothy 3

[Paul encourages Timothy to ensure church elders and deacons possess key character qualities.]

Know God

  1. What do the characteristics required for church leaders tell us about God?

  2. What is the connection between how we behave in God’s household and being a pillar and buttress of the truth (v15)?

Know Ourselves

  1. Paul draws a direct connection from the way people care for their own households to how they care for God’s household (v5&15). How can we make our homes imitate God’s home?

Know How to Respond:

As a Group: A household can have the appearance of health but be inwardly sick. Share which area of your household is most in need of your attention. As a group, give thanks to God for revealing these needs and ask Him for grace to address those needs.

Individually: Read the first 20 verses of this chapter and listen to this song

Outwardly: God promises to make us like Jesus, from glory to glory, one degree at a time. Take time to encourage a brother or sister this week with God’s promise to put all things right, even the most broken situations and homes.
