This Week in Kid City | May 18
Hi Kid City!
We are continuing to learn that God is a promise keeper! We read about Joshua and how he led God’s people into the Promise Land! They had to walk around the city of Jericho, shout, yell, and play trumpets until the walls came tumbling down. We continue to see how God keeps his promises to his people. Thank you, Lord!
Below is a list of activities that you can engage your little one throughout the week. It will also be posted to Instagram (@fwcitychurchkids) and Facebook (City Church Kids).
Read With Us: “The warrior leader” on page 108 of the Jesus Storybook Bible
Main Truth: God is a Promise Keeper!
Bible Verse: “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son that whoever believes in him, will not perish, but have eternal life” –John 3:16
Prayer Activity: This week let’s pray to God, our Promise Keeper.
Joshua 1:9 says, “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go”
Read this verse with your children and pray with them this week, “thank you God that you are with me wherever I go”
Remind them throughout the week that God is ALWAYS with them and that God ALWAYS keeps his promises.
Activity: Legos! Together with your little one, build a tower, castle, or city with Legos and have your children knock down the walls. Remind them of the walls of Jericho and how when God’s people listened and obeyed God, the walls came tumbling down!
Sing & Dance: “All Creatures”, by Rain for Roots
It’s a beautiful collection of songs reminding us of God’s promises that you and your little one will love!
Activity: Make a Trumpet just like God’s people used in the story of Jericho.
Supplies:
-Paper towel roll
-Styrofoam or paper cup
-Masking or painters tape
Directions:
-Cut a hole in the bottom of your cup so that the paper towel roll will be able to fit
-Stick the paper towel roll into the cup and tape to secure it
-Let your little one decorate it to their liking
MemoryVerse:
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son, that whoever believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.” – John 3:16
For God – point up
So loved – hug yourself
The world – make a circle with your harms above your head
He gave his one and only son – hold up a one with your finger
That whoever believes in him – point to your head
Will not perish – wag finger back and forth
But have eternal life – reach arms forward in a circular motion
